A lot of nice stories begin on Christmas Eve, but this one is a little different. On December 24th our client awoke in excruciating pain. While he was able to reach his physician and obtain a referral for an MRI, the MRI facility could not get authorization from his insurer because they were closed for the holiday. Still in pain, the client signed paperwork accepting responsibility for the entire cost should the insurer decline to cover the testing. When the insurer reopened, the claim was in fact denied. We went to bat for our client, requested a retrospective review and got the claim approved, leaving him responsible for only the deductible. This success story ends with a healthy – and happy – client.
